Dr. Sumir Sahgal is the founder and Chief Medical Officer of Essen Health Care. Dr. Sahgal started Essen out of a single South Bronx office in 1999. The practice currently has 30 locations throughout the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens. Essen Health Care is the largest privately held multi-specialty medical group in the Bronx with six integrated clinical divisions offering Urgent Care, Primary Care and Specialty services, as well as House Calls, Care Management and Nursing Home staffing. Dr. Sahgal has been the recipient numerous awards including ‘House Call Doctor of the Year’ by the American Academy of Home Care Medicine and the ‘Physician Executive of the Year Award’ by the Medical Group Management Association. Among his notable leadership roles, Dr. Sahgal serves as a board member on various organizations and founded NYREACH, a non-for- profit dedicated to improving community health and workforce development.
